Music and lyrics:
This was definitely the best production from WLOS in recent years.
Benet Catty let his creative juices run wild. By gosh, at times we got pure theatre - stark as it was. This had all the aspects of a good modern theatre production; minimal set but still retaining realism, heightened drama through atmosphere and strong lighting images… a truly unique musical experience.
I loved the complete use of the ensemble, sometimes as scenery with an aura of death and at other times a range of named characters adding dimension to the production. Clever use of symbolism to convey death, strong lighting images and swells in the dramatic score all added to the macabre atmosphere. The lighting enhanced the production ten-fold.
